What Is Therapy?

Massage therapy at Maeven is performed by licensed massage therapists who adapt each session to your specific needs. Whether you are seeking relaxation, relief from chronic tension, or support for muscle recovery, the approach, pressure, and technique are customized for you.

Available modalities include Swedish massage for full-body relaxation and stress relief, deep tissue work targeting chronic muscle knots and tension patterns, hot stone massage for warmth and tension release, prenatal massage for pregnancy comfort, and sports massage for athletic recovery and injury prevention.

Regular massage sessions produce cumulative benefits for stress reduction, sleep quality, chronic pain management, and circulation. Monthly sessions are ideal for maintenance. More frequent sessions are recommended for acute muscle tension, injury recovery, or high-stress periods.

The Experience

What to Expect

Before

Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to complete any intake paperwork if it is your first visit. Drink water before your appointment. Communicate any injuries, areas of sensitivity, health conditions, or areas you prefer not to have worked. Eat lightly beforehand.

During

You will be fully draped at all times, with only the area being worked exposed. Pressure is adjusted throughout the session based on your feedback. The room is quiet and warm. Aromatherapy is available. Your therapist works through your target areas systematically over the course of the session.

After

Drink water after your session to support circulation and help flush metabolic byproducts from muscle tissue. Mild soreness lasting 24 to 48 hours is normal after deep tissue work, similar to post-exercise soreness. Rest if possible. Stretch gently. The more regularly you come in, the less soreness you will experience.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of massage do you offer?
Maeven offers Swedish relaxation massage, deep tissue for muscle tension and chronic pain, hot stone massage, prenatal massage for pregnant clients, and sports massage for athletic recovery. Your therapist can also combine techniques based on your needs during the session.
How often should I come in?
Monthly sessions provide consistent maintenance for stress and general muscle health. If you have acute tension, are recovering from an injury, or have a physically demanding lifestyle, weekly sessions are beneficial. Your therapist will advise you based on your goals.
Do I need to undress completely?
You undress to your comfort level. You will be draped with sheets throughout the session and only the area being actively worked on will be uncovered. Your privacy and comfort are always the priority.
Can I get a massage during pregnancy?
Yes. Prenatal massage is offered by our licensed therapists. It is generally considered safe after the first trimester and provides significant relief from the physical demands of pregnancy. Please disclose your pregnancy and trimester when booking.
What is the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses longer, flowing strokes at lighter to medium pressure for relaxation and improved circulation. Deep tissue massage focuses on specific areas of tension using firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Deep tissue is therapeutic rather than purely relaxing.
